Smoke advisory covers the Peace

Environment Canada has upgraded the air quality rating from yellow to orange as several wildfires continue to burn in the Northwest Territories.

Currently, orange and yellow air quality warnings are in effect across the northern prairies and northeastern B.C.

Locally, air quality is very poor, sitting at 11.0 on the air quality health index.

Until that improves, EC suggests residents limit their time outdoors and reschedule any sports, activities or events; symptoms like headaches, mild coughs and throat, nose and eye irritation are expected.

Alberta Wildfire reports that only three blazes remain active in the Peace and are listed as being held or under control, while at least four severe wildfires are out of control in N.W.T.
