Case involving OHS charges against an oilfield business in Grande Prairie court Wednesday

Aug 12, 2026 | 6:06 AM

A case involving Occupational Health and Safety charges against an oilfield company after a rig worker was injured on the job is due in Grande Prairie Court of Justice today (August 12).

Twilight Drilling Ltd. is facing eight charges.

That includes two under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including failure to ensure the health, safety and welfare of workers and failing to ensure workers were adequately trained.

The other six are under the OHS Code and include failure to involve affected workers in hazard assessment.

OHS says the charges resulted from an incident on July 19, 2024, near Beaverlodge.

It says two workers were underneath a rig. One worker had serious injuries after getting caught in a chain after another worker turned on a machinery control.
