Partial solar eclipse visible on Wednesday in Alberta

A partial solar eclipse will be visible across Alberta today (Wednesday, August 12). 

The website Time and Date says the partial eclipse will be visible in Alberta starting at 9:47 a.m. and ending at 11:37 a.m. 

The partial eclipse will be visible in nearly all parts of Canada. 

A solar eclipse happens when the moon’s orbit moves it between the sun and Earth. 

A total eclipse will be visible in places like Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Portugal. 

A partial eclipse will also be visible in many European countries, along with some places in Africa. 

People are cautioned to never look directly at the sun during an eclipse, even a partial one.
