WPCA World Finals kick off in Rocky Mountain House

The chuckwagon racing season has come to its pinnacle after almost three months of competition.

The 2026 WPCA World Finals at the Battle of the Rockies gets going Wednesday (August 12) down in Rocky Mountain House. The top 12 drivers of the season will battle it out over the course of four days in the WHEELS ON FIRE SERIES Playoffs Round. Four drivers will secure their spot in Sunday’s Championship Final Heat.

Obrey Motowylo is the world standings leader heading into the final event of the season, followed by Jason Glass, Grande Prairie native Chanse Vigen, and Jamie Laboucane.

The chuckwagon drivers who qualified for the 2026 playoffs are:

  • Jason Glass
  • Chanse Vigen
  • Jamie Laboucane
  • Evan Salmond
  • Logan Gorst
  • Rae Croteau Jr.
  • Dustin Gorst
  • Cruise Bensmiller
  • Mitch Sutherland
  • Kurt Bensmiller
  • Luke Tournier

The top twelve will compete in Heats 7, 8, and 9 under the playoff series format for the first four days of racing at the Battle of the Rockies.

The final heat winner on Sunday will capture the Wheels on Fire Series crown, a $28,000 cheque, and earn a one-year lease of a GMC Truck, along with bragging rights as world champion.
