Dawson, Team Canada grab bronze at Pan Pacs

UPDATE 1 Friday: Dawson will compete in the B Final of the 50 metre breaststroke Friday night. 

He had the tenth-fastest time in the heats and missed a spot in the A Final by less than two-tenths of a second. 

Dawson will also compete in the 200 metre breaststroke Saturday, and could also be in the men’s medley relay.

Grande Prairie’s Oliver Dawson helped Canada win one of the five medals our country’s athletes collected Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. 

Dawson, Ingrid Wilm, Taylor Ruck and Finlay Knox took bronze in the mixed 4 x 100 medley relay. The U.S. and Australia won gold and silver, respectively. 

Three of these four swimmers are Albertans. Wilm is from Calgary. Knox is from Okotoks. 

Ruck won three medals on the night. She also took bronze in the 50 metre butterfly and the 100 metre backstroke. 

Blake Tierney won gold in the men’s 100 metre backstroke. 

Summer McIntosh took silver in the 200 metre freestyle.
