The World Professional Chuckwagon Association has opened the last event of the 2026 racing season down in Rocky Mountain House, where the World Champion will be crowned.

The Battle of the Rockies and World Chuckwagon Finals opening night on Wednesday went off without a hitch despite some early afternoon rain.

The fastest wagons of the night were in the ninth heat. The day-money winner was Jason Glass with a penalty-free run time of 1:12.82. The top spot finish gave Glass 12 points in the Kirk’s Trail Series Playoff standings and now trails the leader of the world standings, Obrey Motowylo, by 43 points.

The World Champion Chuckwagon Driver will be crowned on Saturday night, with the title going to the driver who accumulates the most points over the course of the season.

Also, in the Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Championship Playoffs: Jamie Laboucane finished second, with Chanse Vigen, Motowylo, and Luke Tournier rounding out the top five.

The driver posting the fastest four-day aggregate time after Saturday night will be declared the Battle of the Rockies champion.

Following Saturday night’s heats, the top four drivers in the playoff standings will advance to the Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Championship Final Heat on Sunday, where they will race for $75,000 and the prestigious title of Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Champion.
