Two medals for Grande Prairie athlete at national track and field competition

Some athletes from the Peace were part of Team Alberta at the Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships, and one came home with two medals. 

Elizabeth (Lizzy) McLeod took silver in the U16 200 metre hurdles, finishing 0.02 seconds behind the gold medal winner from Ontario. An athlete from the Northwest Territories won the bronze medal. 

McLeod also won the bronze medal in the U16 80 metre hurdles.

Also at nationals, Michelle Rivers from the County of Grande Prairie finished 12th in the 2000 metres, and recorded a top-23 finish in the 1200 metres.  

Alex Ross of Fairview wound up 17th in the 1500 metre steeplechase. 

The Royal Canadian Legion-sponsored national competition took place in Regina from August 7 to 9.
