Aquatera project on 97B Street continues

Aug 14, 2026 | 12:02 PM

Aquatera continues work along 97B Street to replace water and sewer lines.

Aquatera CEO Vaughn Bend says this is being done because of what he calls “a reliability issue.”

“This section of lines has been causing us some problems because of the age.”

“They’ve served us well, and so we’re taking an opportunity to coordinate with the city, because they’re doing some work area too, so we wanted to capture that opportunity to) work with them collaboratively and replace these lines, because they’re becoming unreliable.”

Bend says this is part of Aquatera’s asset management plan.

“We take a look at all of our assets across all of our service areas, and we make decisions on when and where we need to replace them to make sure we have that high level of service for all of our customers.”

Bend says given the news about water main breaks in places like Calgary, Aquatera wants ot avoid having those issues here.

“The assets don’t last forever. I think that what we want to do is make sure that we’re on top of it, we’re monitoring the age, the material and the performance, and changing them before they become a real problem.”

Bend says they hope to finish this work by early October.
