No injuries reported from Wednesday’s gas leak

Aug 20, 2026 | 6:05 AM

The City of Grande Prairie is thanking residents for following directions and avoiding the area while crews dealt with yesterday’s gas leak (Wednesday, Aug. 19).

The Grande Prairie Fire Department responded to the area of 93 Street and 101 Ave at 12:38 p.m. yesterday at the request of ATCO, for a potential gas leak.

Once it was located, Fire crews, Grande Prairie Police Service, Enforcement Services and EMS worked to evacuate a three-block radius.

Residents were able to return home later in the day once the leak was plugged, and no injuries were reported.

The City is now thanking residents for following directions and allowing crews space to operate during an emergency.
