Swimming Canada tabs Kim Cousins as NextGen national Para team coach

OTTAWA — Kim Cousins has been named coach of Canada’s NextGen Paralympic swimming team, Swimming Canada announced on Monday.

Cousins has previously worked as a high-performance coach in a variety of sports, including Para athletics, Para swimming, athletics, bobsled and skeleton.

She has over 30 years of national and international high-performance coaching experience across Paralympic and Olympic programs.

Most recently, Cousins served as Athletics Canada’s Para athletics Next Generation Pathway Developer, where she designed and implemented a national athlete development program.

Swimming Canada says Cousins will focus on strengthening the athlete development pipeline through the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games.

Cousins will officially begin her new role Sept. 14 and will be based in Calgary.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to help build the next generation of Canadian Para swimmers and strengthen the pathway that supports them from emerging athletes through to the international stage,” Cousins said in a statement.
