Severe thunderstorm watch over northwest Alberta

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a yellow watch for severe thunderstorms today (Thursday, August 27).

Communities under the alert span from High Level, Manning, Peace River, Fairview, Spirit River, Grande Prairie, Fox Creek, Whitecourt, Grande Cache, Hinton, and Edson.

The national weather office says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that can produce strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

Driving conditions may be difficult in these storms.
