Northern Lakes College re-opens former NWP Fairview campus

The former Fairview campus for Northwestern Polytechnic is officially open once again.

A grand opening was held Wednesday, August 26, to celebrate the campus’ new stewardship under Northern Lakes College.

The college says that under NLC’s leadership, the campus will offer post-secondary education and training in Fairview that responds to the needs of learners, communities, and employers throughout the region.

“This is an exciting new chapter for Northern Lakes College and for the Fairview community,” says Northern Lakes College President and CEO Dr. Glenn Mitchell. “Reaching this milestone has been a truly collaborative effort, made possible by the commitment of our community partners and, most importantly, the Government of Alberta.”

NLC took stewardship of the campus after NWP announced in October of last year its plans to close the facility in anticipation of a budget shortfall.

The transition was thanks in part to the investment of the Government of Alberta and the efforts of NLC and the Fairview Regional College Transition Committee.

The college says it looks forward to honouring the campus’ history and role in supporting generations of students, families, employers, and communities across northern Alberta.
