UPDATE Highway 43 reopened following three-vehicle collision

Highway 43 has reopened for travel following a three-vehicle collision the morning of Friday, Sept. 4.

Only minor injuries were sustained because of the collision, but two unidentified individuals were seen fleeing one of the vehicles involved, which was later determined to have been stolen.

Alberta RCMP dog services were dispatched to locate the suspects to no avail, as they are believed to have been picked up after they fled.

The stolen vehicle has been recovered.

Clairmont RCMP is currently on the scene of a collision on the westbound lane of Highway 43.

The highway is closed near Range Road 23 while emergency crews respond and investigate.

Mounties advise the public that the collision may be connected to reports of two suspects fleeing in a stolen vehicle and are urging residents to secure their properties, not pick up any hitchhikers, and to report any suspicious people.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
