Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie collecting food bank donations Thursday

Sep 7, 2026 | 6:00 AM

Volunteers will be going door-to-door in Grande Prairie and surrounding areas this week in search of donations for the Salvation Army.

The Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie have been leading the GP Food Drive for over 30 years and say the need continues to grow, with 5,979 hampers distributed in 2025.

On Thursday, Sept. 10, residents can expect volunteers to come to their door looking for donations of non-perishable food items, sealed hygiene products, and baby items, including diapers and formula.

Monetary donations for the food bank are also being accepted on the Rotary Club’s website.

For those wanting to get involved with the campaign, teams of four to six volunteers are needed and must provide their own transportation, bags and signage to identify themselves. The Rotary Club will provide a route, which takes an average of two hours to complete, and a barbecue afterwards.

Anyone interested in volunteering can sign their team up on the Rotary Club’s website.
