Grande Prairie sixth on list of cities with the lowest asking rent in August says national report

The new National Rent Report says the average asking rent was $1422 in Grande Prairie in August. 

The report, compiled by Rentals.ca and Urbanation, says that is the sixth-lowest in a list of 25 markets that excludes the six biggest cities in the country. 

Six of the top eight cities on the cheapest rent list are in Alberta. 

Fort McMurray had the lowest asking rent price in August at $1277. 

The prices are for what the report calls “purpose-built and condo rental apartments.” 

The highest asking rent last month across the country, outside the six biggest cities, was North Vancouver at $3018.

The report also says that the average asking rent went down 4.8. per cent across the country in August of this year compared to 2025. 

That is the 23rd month in a row that the average asking rate decreased.
