Cops for Cancer start their 850km ride

Thirteen first responders and community riders will begin a week-long trek today (Friday, Sept. 11), to raise money for childhood cancer research.

The Cops for Cancer Tour de North begins with a breakfast and send-off event in Fort St. John this morning before the 850 km ride throughout northern BC to Williams Lake.

Now, after training for months, “riders will visit communities and schools along the route to help raise vital funds for childhood cancer research.”

Throughout their tour, Cops for Cancer is inviting the public to come show their support with planned stops in Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Prince George, Quesnel and Williams Lake:

  • Dawson Creek – September 11, 2026   

WHAT: Cops for Cancer Tour de North – Community BBQ, sponsored by RCMP, Rotary Club of Dawson Creek, Swamp Donkey and Co-op. 

WHO: Cops for Cancer Tour de North riders and support team, RCMP, BCEHS and BC Sheriff, Mayor and Council members, First Nations Elders, local sponsors, community members, and Canadian Cancer Society. 

WHEN: 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.    

WHERE: RCMP Detachment, 1230 102 Ave, Dawson Creek BC V1G 4V3 

  • Chetwynd – September 12, 2026   

WHAT: Cops for Cancer Tour de North – Harvest Festival     

WHO: Cops for Cancer Tour de North riders and support team, RCMP, BCEHS and BC Sheriff, Mayor and Council members, First Nations Elders, local sponsors, community members, and Canadian Cancer Society. 

WHEN: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Tour de North Team arriving 2:00 p.m.)

  • Prince George – September 15, 2026   

WHAT: Cops for Cancer Tour de North Block Party, sponsored by PG RCMP, Rotary Clubs of Prince George, PG Community Foundation, Canadian Tire, Integris and McDonalds  

WHO: Cops for Cancer Tour de North riders and support team, RCMP, BCEHS and BC Sheriff Services, Mayor and Council members, Indigenous Elders, local sponsors, community members, and Canadian Cancer Society. 

WHEN: 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (Tour de North riders arriving at 5:00 p.m.)

  • Quesnel – September 16, 2026   

WHAT: Cops for Cancer Tour de North Welcome Community Event, hosted by Safeway. 

WHO: Cops for Cancer Tour de North riders and support team, RCMP, BCEHS and BC Sheriff, Mayor and Council members, First Nations Elders, local sponsors, community members, and Canadian Cancer Society. 

WHEN: 4:45 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (Tour de North Team arriving 5:00 p.m.)

  • Williams Lake – September 17, 2026   

WHAT: Cops for Cancer Tour de North Closing Ceremony, sponsored by RCMP and the Williams Lake Visitor Centre.
