Rotary Community Food Bank Drive collects nearly 43 tonnes of donations
Hundreds of volunteers and donors made the 2026 Rotary Community Food Bank Drive a success on Thursday evening (Sept. 10).
The Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie say that almost 43 tonnes of food bank donations were collected by volunteers going door-to-door in the Swan City for the Salvation Army Food Bank in a single night.
Despite the large collection of non-perishables, nearly 20 neighbourhoods were missed due to a shortage of volunteers. Rotary would like to apologize to the routes that were missed and residents are being encouraged to drop off their donations at the Salvation Army Food Bank at 9615 102 Street, Grande Prairie.
Donations can also be given online through a virtual store, where donors can contribute towards high-need items, including perishable goods, and are eligible to receive a tax receipt before the end of the year by the Salvation Army.
