Annual traffic light repair work underway

City of Grande Prairie crews will begin traffic light maintenance work on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Fourteen traffic lights are scheduled to be repaired during the 2026 rendition of its Traffic Signal Maintenance Program.

Phase 1:

  • 115 Avenue/99 Street 
  • 89 Avenue/108 Street
  • 92 Avenue/108 Street
  • 79 Avenue/108 Street
  • 99 Avenue/100 Street
  • 97 Avenue/116 Street

Phase 2:

  • 99 Street/Prairie Mall 
  • 84 Avenue/ Mission Heights Drive
  • 100 Avenue/106 Street
  • 100 Avenue/98 Street
  • 99 Avenue/98 Street
  • 68 Avenue/100 Street
  • 68 Avenue/ Resources Road
  • 84 Avenue/116 Street

Work will consist of “signal pole replacements, cabinet replacements and full rehabilitation of signal infrastructure,” with temporary traffic controls planned for active work sites.

Some repairs will require temporary lane closures, but traffic will remain open in both directions, and they will take place outside of peak traffic hours to help reduce delays.

Work is expected to wrap up by November, weather permitting.
