Multi-use sports court open at Penson School

Peace Wapiti Public School Division has unveiled a new multi-use sports court at Penson School.

On Friday, students, staff, volunteers, and community members gathered for the grand opening of the new amenity, which will provide a new place for students to be active, play, and enjoy time together.

Principal Nicole Gillies says she is extremely grateful to the project organizers and the broader community for their dedication and generosity that made this project possible.

“Our entire school community is looking forward to utilizing the court during recess and physical education classes for many years to come!”

One of the organizers for the court, Leah Diachuk, is calling it an example of what happens when a small community decides to work together.

“Some donated financially, some donated services, and many simply shared our project and encouraged us along the way.”

Over 50 sponsors helped support the court’s development and construction, including the Municipal District of Greenview #16, Ovintiv, Grovedale Fire Department, Grovedale Community Club and Ag. Society, Grovedale South Wapiti Recreation Board, White Cap, and TC Energy.
