Grande Prairie bull rider feeling confident heading into Peace Country Invitational

A Grande Prairie bull rider will be competing at his third PBR Peace Country Invitational back home this weekend. 

Jett Lambert says he drew a good bull and has “a really good feeling” about Saturday’s competition. 

“(I’m) feeling (confident). I’ve definitely sharpened up my mental and physical game over the last couple years.” 

“I took quite a little bit of time away from the arena there in 2025. (I) just kind of had to re-focus on myself and get away from the arena a bit, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my bull riding.” 

Lambert says he tore a ligament off his elbow at this year’s Stompede, an injury that led to three-and-a-half weeks off. 

“I was kind of having a bit of a rocky start to the season, but I changed back to a Brazilian-style bull rope.” 

“I used to ride (with) an American (rope), and it’s been seeming to help a lot. I’ve been getting a lot more bulls covered and been a lot more consistent.” 

Lambert says the handle is higher up on a Brazilian rope. 

Lambert says he started competing more on the PBR circuit in July. He calls it a late start to the season, but adds he has been able to “climb up the ladder a little bit quicker.” 

Lambert says there will be some more PBR events coming up and is hoping to qualify for the final. He adds that next year, he wants to get back to the Canadian Finals Rodeo and the PBR final. 

“If you’re not trying to be the best, there’s no sense in going,” says Lambert, adding, “if you’re putting in the work, the rest of it seems to come a lot easier, right?” 

Lambert adds he is “grateful for all the people that have stuck in my corner throughout all the years. It’s pushed me to be better than myself.” 

The Peace Country Invitational will start at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Bonnetts Energy Centre. Tickets are available through the box office.

Lambert is one of four cowboys from the Peace who will be competing this weekend.
