Multiple City facilities closed for Truth & Reconciliation Day

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, a number of City facilities will be closed to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Inspired by Orange Shirt Day, the statutory holiday was first established in June of 2021 by the federal government to honour the survivors of residential schools, make sure the history is never forgotten, and reflect on the lasting impacts.

As a result, multiple City facilities will be closed:

• City Hall: Closed
• City Service Centre: Closed
• Bonnetts Energy Centre: Closed
• Grande Prairie Museum: Closed
• Dave Barr Community Centre: Closed
• Keyera Place: Closed
• Cedar Point: Closed

  However, some facilities will operate on limited holiday hours, including transit:

• Ernie Radbourne Pavilion at Muskoseepi Park: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Eastlink Centre: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Design Works Centre: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Montrose Cultural Centre: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Transit: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and late-night on-demand service from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
