St. Joe’s High School closed for day amid “threat”

Grande Prairie Police are on site at St. Joe’s Catholic High School this morning (Sept. 28) after officials at the school were made aware of a threat to occur “later today.”

In an email sent to parents and guardians of students, it says the school division’s Superintendent has made the decision to close the school for the remainder of the day in wake of the situation.

Students are being sent home out of precaution and to ensure their safety. Those that have already arrived safely at the school will remain inside the building under a Hold and Secure until arrangements to get those home safely have been made.

Busses have been redirected to the school to transport students back to their morning pick-up stops to return home. Students that drive themselves to school have been released to head home.
