ten question Referendum

Grande Prairie gearing up for Alberta referendum vote

Oct 15, 2026 | 2:30 PM

Three referendum voting stations in Grande Prairie have already opened for advance polls.

Design Works Centre, the Prairie Mall and Elks Lodge are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. every weekday until voting day (Monday, Oct. 19)

On Monday, St. Joseph Catholic School will also serve as a voting station.

So far, the province says they saw unprecedented interest in mail-in ballot requests last month, and the agency says two-thirds of the roughly 658,000 special ballots requested have now been returned.

Close to 175,000 voters already trekked to the polls on the first day of advance voting (Tuesday, Oct. 13.)

Elections Alberta says it’s expecting record voter turnout for Premier Danielle Smith’s 10-question referendum, which includes one on whether the province should hold a second, binding vote on separating from Canada

For this upcoming referendum, the province found over 1,400 locations to serve as polling stations.
