A Peace Region athlete is headed to the nations capital to play USports volleyball next year.

Brynn Funk of Elmworth has been recruited to play with uOttawa Women’s Volleyball team.

In a social media post, they say Funk is a powerful outside hitter and plays with the South Peace Regional Volleyball Club.

The post also notes the 17-year-old is a two time provincial champion, as well as provincial MVP, and co-captain of her current club; the SPVC U18 Blizzard Yellow.

Funk is a dual athlete playing hockey as well, and has won two silver medals at provincials on the ice.

The post-secondary institution says she is the second recruit for their 2027 class.
