ASIRT concludes investigation into GP RCMP ERT’s use of a “less-lethal projectile”
ASIRT has concluded its investigation into an officer’s use of a less-lethal projectile launcher dating back to January of this year.
ASIRT says Grande Prairie RCMP and Emergency Response Team members were involved in a 12-hour standoff just outside of GP when they attended a rural property at 6 a.m. on Jan. 12, after the suspect allegedly assaulted his wife and to execute a firearms search warrant.
The suspect then barricaded himself inside an RV in his shop, leading to police using negotiations, drones, distraction devices, chemical agents, an armoured vehicle, and a remote-controlled skid steer, which RCMP used to remove and disassemble the RV with the suspect inside.
