Remberance Day

Alberta Legislature Service of Remembrance set for Wednesday

Nov 2, 2026 | 5:00 PM

The Alberta Legislature will host a Remembrance Day Ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Rick McIver, will host the ceremony and says, “remembrance gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by generations of Canadians who served our country in times of war, conflict and peace.”

This year’s ceremony follows the recent deaths of four Canadian Armed Forces Members at CFB Wainwright in October, with Speaker McIver adding that “their loss is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy are sustained by men and women who continue to answer their country’s call to serve.”

A blessing from Elder Dr. Francis WhiskeyJack, remarks from Premier Danielle Smith, Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition Naheed Nenshi and Hon. Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Indigenous Relations and a musical performance are all planned to take place.

The ceremony starts at 11 a.m., and members of the public are invited to attend, but it will also be livestreamed for those unable to make it.
