Purple ribbons in downtown Grande Prairie marking Family Violence Prevention Month

Nov 4, 2026 | 6:00 AM

Purple ribbons have been tied to some light poles in downtown Grande Prairie to mark Family Violence Prevention Month.

It is observed every year in November.

Odyssey House says in a social media post that not all family violence is physical.

It can also appear in other forms of abuse, including emotional and sexual abuse, along with stalking and harassment, neglect, and control.

The post says understanding the different forms of abuse means it can be recognized sooner.

The province says its Family Violence Information Line is available 24/7 in 170 different languages at 211.

More resources can be found on the province’s website.
