Democrat Cait Conley wins election to U.S. House in New York’s 17th Congressional District

Democrat Cait Conley won election Thursday to the U.S. House of Representatives representing New York’s 17th Congressional District, defeating Republican incumbent Mike Lawler. Conley’s victory comes in the Hudson Valley district that was one of a handful that supported Kamala Harris in 2024 but elected a Republican to the House. A West Point graduate and Army veteran, Conley criticized Lawler for being too close to President Donald Trump. The Associated Press declared Conley the winner at 6:12 p.m. EST.
