Wind warnings out for several areas of the Peace

Nov 6, 2026 | 12:42 PM

Yellow warnings for wind are in effect for a large chunk of the Peace, on both the Alberta and B.C. sides.

The warning area goes from the Rocky Mountains through Hinton and Grande Prairie, up to Manning, and east to Valleyview.

The area from Dawson Creek to Chetwynd, and areas to the south, are also included.

Environment Canada says winds near 90 km/h are expected to develop around midnight (Nov. 6). Gusts may reach 100 km/h.

The wind warning area may be extended to the southeast.

The weather office says local power outages are possible. Damage to buildings and bigger vehicles getting blown around are also possible.

People are asked to secure any loose objects and to stay away from any downed power lines.
