A pursuit was not initiated due to public safety concerns.  Police were later told a man had come into the store, produced a firearm, and made off with an undisclosed amount of liquor and cash.

Twenty-three-year-old Dakota Frederick Ouellette of Drayton Valley has been charged with a handful of offences including robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resisting arrest, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Ouellette remains in custody and will appear in Slave Lake Provincial Court today for a bail hearing.
