UPDATE: Police investigate bus collision

UPDATE: In an earlier version of this story, Grande Prairie District & Catholic Schools initially said no students were injured. The RCMP and school board have since clarified, and said a 10-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

Police are looking into a collision between a bus and a car this morning.

“The school bus was carrying 28 students. A 10-year-old child on the bus was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Parents or caregivers of the children have been notified,” said an RCMP release.

The 55-year-old driver of the car was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident occurred at 68 Ave. and Resources Rd. in Grande Prairie just after 10:30 a.m.

EMS were on scene immediately to assess students on the Mother Teresa Band bus, according to a release from Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools.

 

 

“Special thanks to the City of Grande Prairie Bus driver who witnessed the incident and after EMS was finished brought the students and their principal, Mr. Henri Chauvet to their destination,” said the release.
