Building Inclusive Communities sessions

Nov 20, 2017 | 11:00 AM

The city is looking for input from the community on inclusivity.

There will be three opportunities for residents to let officials know what inclusion means to them.

Community Development Coordinator Tammy Wentzell says the city wants to know what barriers to inclusion exist and how can the city be more welcoming and inclusive.

“This is needed because we currently have, that’s been identified in Grande Prairie, over 100 different cultures that live here in our city so we want to make sure that we are hearing from everybody. And to make sure that initiatives and strategies or any programs that we are developing, we are including the entire community.”

She says the information collected will be made into a final report by Centre for Race and Culture.

“That will identify the key themes and trends that have emerged, they will give us direction, different priorities and initiatives that we can do within our city to ensure that we are including people from the diverse backgrounds.”

The sessions are:

Monday, November 27, 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the KMSC Room B, Coca- Cola Centre

Tuesday, November 28, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Muskoseepi Park Auditorium

Wednesday, November 29, 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Rotary Community Room, Montrose Cultural Centre
