Family pleads for help finding missing young man

It’s been one week since Tommy Harrington went missing in a snowstorm approximately 70 kilometres north of Grande Cache.
 
The family is pleading for the public’s help in finding Tommy, and is offering a $5000 cash reward for information that leads to them finding their loved one.
 
The young man from Peace River was working near Grande Cache and was on his way to camp around 9 p.m. last Saturday evening, when he hit the ditch and the truck he was driving became stuck.
 
“It was snowing really bad that night and we think that he missed the turn for the camp.  He told his dad that he was headed back to camp and that’s what he also told his mother,” explained Geraldine Redhead, Tommy’s grandmother.
 
Tommy called family members for help, and when they arrived they discovered the truck on Cinch Road completely out of gas, and Tommy was nowhere to be found. 
 
“He had his phone but it went dead around 11 p.m.” explained Redhead. “He had talked to his mother around 9 p.m., that was January 5th.  She came out to look for him and couldn’t find him.”
 
Tommy’s grandmother says they tracked him to Highway 40, but haven’t been able to track him anywhere past that point.
 
The RCMP has posted a missing person’s file and have been helping with the search.  Search and Rescue and a police dog have been out to help as well, while two days after Tommy went missing, there was an air search.  Redhead says they are supposed to be getting help from a search dog from Grande Prairie on Monday.
 
In the meantime, a small group of family and friends is searching an area near Cinch Road, by foot.
 
She says they meet around 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. at the Cinch Road turnoff to search if anyone would like to join them.
 
They are asking those with information to call Tommy’s mom, Charity Harrington at 780-625-7844.
 
“For any information, if anyone saw him on the road or picked him up.”
 
Tommy is described as Indigenous, 5’8″ and 145lbs.  He has brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing jeans and a blue hoodie when he disappeared.
