A woman is hanging on to life in a Calgary hospital after suffering critical injuries during an avalanche near Field, B-C.

Parks Canada says the slide happened yesterday as a group was ice-climbing in Yoho National Park.

The victim, who is in her 30s, was airlifted to the Foothills Medical Centre.

Parks officials say the avalanche danger rating yesterday was moderate in alpine areas and low both at and below the treeline.
