Grande Prairie to host two day sport conference

A major sports conference will be taking place in Grande Prairie at the end of November.

The two day event was announced at the 2019 Northwest Alberta Sports Excellence Awards, and as Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection Karna Germsheid shares, this has been in the works for quite some time.

“The conference has been a conversation for the last five years. Finally there has been a partnership made between the Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection, Grande Prairie Regional College, Alberta Sport Development Centre, Be Fit for Life Centre, and the Grande Prairie Get Active Network. We are coming together because we recognize that the people up north are missing some great opportunities.”

The event will focus on many different aspects of sport, and as Germsheid adds the planning for the event is well underway.

“We’re actually booking speakers, picking and choosing what our mainstreams are going to be, and it’s going to be a quick turnaround and launch. I have no doubt that we are going to launch it as a great significant event that we can hopefully have every two years at least.”

At this time the organization hasn’t released a list of guest speakers for the event which is slated for late November.
