Five Grande Prairie men arrested in decoy vehicle operation
Five people are facing charges after a Bait Vehicle Operation in October.
Throughout the month, RCMP placed a “bait vehicle” in strategic locations to catch thieves in the act. Police say the goal is to charge people responsible for theft-related offences. The device is monitored and when someone enters the vehicle, they are arrested.
All alleged thieves were from Grande Prairie. Twenty-eight-year-old Joshua Zahara-Budd is facing multiple charges including possession of break-in instruments, theft of a motor vehicle, and mischief over $5,000. He will be in court on November 20.
Joshua Anderson is facing multiple charges including theft of a motor vehicle and mischief over $5,000. The 34-year-old will be in court on the same day as Zahara-Budd.
A 57-year-old is facing charges of theft under $5,000 and failure to comply. A warrant has been issued for Ronald Callahan’s arrest.
Eric Olson is also facing charges. The 47-year-old is charged with attempting to steal a vehicle and failure to comply with a probation officer. Olson will be in court on December 4.
Matthew Goodlife will appear in court on December 20. The 21-year-old was charged with theft under $5,000.
Officers are encouraging people to remove all valuables from inside of their vehicles as well as make sure vehicles are locked.
The type of vehicle is not identified to maintain the purpose of the vehicle.
