Art Gallery adds three staff members

Jun 6, 2018 | 5:30 AM

The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie announced the hiring of three new staff members on Tuesday (June 5).

Jamie-Lee Cormier is the new Coordinator of Programs and Exhibitions, Katrina Shirley is her assistant of Programs and Exhibitions, and Danielle Ribar is the new Associate Curator.

Executive Director Jeff Erbach says the three new hires will help staff keep pace with the Gallery’s busy schedule.

“It’s a major period of transition for us, which works in the lockstep with the significant increases in growth that we have been seeing. [It’s similar to what] we are seeing in the City for the past five or six years.”

The Gallery is looking forward to the three new staff members.

“It really is exciting for us that we can work with people who we already have that are so great.  That we can bring in some new people from the community who have a lot of experience and skills. I feel like the arts sector in our community is really starting to thrive,” said Erbach.

He adds because the Gallery is being visited more frequently, they have had to hire more staff.

“We saw from 2016/17 to 2017/18 there was a 13 percent increase in our tours and art camps. We now deliver almost 100 tours and art camps.”
