Nov 15, 2017 | 1:06 PM

A man facing 25 charges after a May 2016 ALERT bust near Fairview has been given a jail term of close to two-years and eight months.

Police seized nine firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, explosives, stolen property, a small amount of drugs and cash.

Robert Cletus Traverse pleaded guilty to eight charges, including possession of a substance, possession of a prohibited weapon, three counts of possession of stolen property and breach of probation.

The total sentence handed down in Peace River court on November 10 was for 1,260 days. He has been given credit for 839 days time served, leaving 421 days remaining on his sentence.

Police alleged at the time of his arrest that Traverse had ties to gangs in B.C.’s Lower Mainland.

Five other people were also arrested at the time.

One man pleaded guilty to a count of careless use or storage of a firearm and was given a $1000 fine. Twenty other counts were withdrawn.

A stay-of-proceedings has been in place since June in the cases against the other four individuals.
