Pair charged in counterfeiting case
Dozens of charges have been laid against two Peace Country women after a Grande Prairie traffic stop led to the seizure of a number of counterfeit items.
On January 2, police stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of a north end business after finding out its license plate was stolen.
Police found $11,500 worth of counterfeit cheques, almost two-dozen stolen and counterfeit ID cards, and tools used in counterfeiting. Cash, cocaine, crystal meth, and an extendable baton were also seized.
The 59 counts against 27-year-old Kellie Laverne Ominayak of Peace River and 37-year-old Jennifer Beulah White of Bluesky include 21 counts of possession of identity documents, 11 more of buying/receiving/possessing counterfeit money, 16 counts of possession of property obtained by crime, along with forgery and drug charges.
Both are due in court on February 6.
