Above normal temperatures, near normal precipitation expected this fall says TWN
The Weather Network is predicting above normal temperatures for the Peace in its fall preview.
Meteorologist Brad Rousseau says it will still be a while before we see the warmer weather.
“As we head into October and through the latter part of fall, it does look like more of a strong ridge builds in across the region, which means you guys will see more above-seasonal temperatures through October and even into early November.”
He adds precipitation should be near normal.
“That would probably come more toward November as with October, with that ridge in place, we’ll probably see a little more drier conditions through October, but come November, (we) should start to see near-normal precipitation come down.”
Rousseau says an Arctic low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere over the territories is bringing the chilly, snowy weather.
“That just keeps funneling down cold, Arctic air and it’s really stubborn to get out of the region. But, that being said, finally, that more Pacific-type air mass starts to move in and kicks that Arctic air out. That’s why, at least at the end of the month and in October, that pattern will change for you.”
Rousseau says the first day of fall Saturday will still see cool temperatures and a rain-snow mix, although there will not be accumulating snow.
