Jury begins deliberations in Wendland trial

Nov 9, 2017 | 2:52 PM

The trial in the case of a multiple stabbing during a Sexsmith bar fight has concluded.

Jordan Wendland’s fate now rests in the hands of the 12-person jury.

He faces a charge of manslaughter and three of aggravated assault in connection with the October 2015 incident.

The defence doesn’t dispute that the accused inflicted the stab wounds on four men – one of whom died of his injuries.

However, they say it was in self-defence. The Crown argues the use of a weapon – the knife – in the incident as not reasonable.

The jury, that consists of seven men and five women, has entered deliberations.
