Level three water restriction in Wembley

May 24, 2018 | 10:48 AM

A level three water restriction has been implemented in Wembley.

Mayor Chris Turnmire says the town’s reservoir well system cannot keep up in this hot, dry weather so residents are asked to not wash their vehicles or water their lawns.

“We know it’s not long term but it is something that we have to impose and if we didn’t we would be back into hauling water again to keep our reservoir to a level that we fill is safe for fire suppression etcetera.”

He says construction on the regional water line could start as early as next month.

“That has gone to tender in terms of the construction and we are hoping to see construction start somewhere (in the) middle, late June on that line.”
