Energy minister: opening of new GP Pembina office testament to region

Nov 8, 2017 | 8:35 AM

The new Pembina Pipeline office in Grande Prairie officially opened Tuesday.

Energy Minister Marg McCuaig-Boyd was in attendance and says investment like this is a testament to the region and province as a whole.

“They are not going to build a building and then not fill it. Right now they have about 100 employees and it sounds like they can fit up to 300 so I think it is a huge vote of confidence not just for this area, but for Alberta.”

She adds “there is a lot of interest in this region, you know with the Duvernay and the Montney, I think it is going to be an area of huge interest for investors and I have even talked to Minister (Brian) Mason about the potential in this area because we need to be ready with infrastructure as well, you know with highways and that.”

Company President and CEO Mick Dilger was also at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We are just planning ahead here, nothing I can point to today but the Montney Duvernay areas are prolific and our feeling is they are just getting started so we want to plan into the future.”
