Man arrested after incident in Wespointe Thursday

RCMP have arrested a man after an incident in the Westpointe area on Thursday afternoon.

Police were called in after reports of a man possibly barricading himself in a home at around 3:30 p.m.

The local schools in the area were put on hold-and-secure.

At about 6:40 p.m., Isabel Campbell School, Ecole Nouvelle Frontiere, and the Stepping Stones Daycare were taken off the precautionary measure.

According to RCMP, they were able to take him into custody without incident at 6:10 p.m.

His identity will not be released and criminal code charges are pending against him.

Police continue to investigate. Officers say it is now safe to resume daily activities as usual.
