Guilty plea in case where child suffered burns

A man charged after a 2015 incident near Grande Prairie where had a toddler had to be airlifted to hospital has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.
Robin Todd McLean of Spruce Grove admitted to a count of failure to provide the necessaries of life. He had originally been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Sentencing is set for April 13 in Grande Prairie court. A statement of facts is expected to be read out at that time.
Grande Prairie Rural RCMP said at the time of the incident an 18-month-old child with second and third-degree burns had to be flown to the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Other details have not been made public.
