RCMP respond to potentially armed man barricaded in home

RCMP are currently on the scene in the Westpointe neighbourhood as a man has possibly barricaded himself in a home.

While the public is not believed to be in danger, RCMP are currently asking residents in the area to stay in their homes or stay away from the area.

Police are currently on scene at the unfolding event on 73 Avenue.

Corporal Shawn Graham calls it “an ongoing situation.”

Also, according to a 4:05 p.m. Grande Prairie Public School Tweet, Isabel Campbell School was put on a hold-and-secure. 

Ecole Nouvelle Frontiere and The Stepping Stones Afterschool Care centre located at Isabel Campbell is also placed on hold-and-secure.

According to Grande Prairie Public Schools, staff and students are safe, and they ask people not to come near the area.
