Local roads in very poor condition, multiple collisions reported

We are hearing reports of multiple collisions on area roads and highways.

On Highway 43 westbound before Richie Bros., there has been a collision involving several vehicles. Callers are reporting white-out conditions. Emergency vehicles are at the scene and they are very difficult to see as you approach them.

We are also hearing reports of a collision at 116 Street (43x) and 132 Avenue.

People should avoid the area near the Bear Creek Golf Course as there are multiple vehicles that have slid off the road. Fire and emergency crews are on the scene.

There was a collision involving a school bus on Highway 49 north of Valleyview. A caller tells us the highway is shut down in both directions.

Highway 40, south of Grande Prairie is in very poor condition.

RCMP are reminding motorists to slow down and drive with caution. They say do not travel if it is not necessary.
