Kleskun Hills Museum Society hoping to add new building

Feb 4, 2018 | 6:07 AM

The Kleskun Hills Museum Society is hoping to add a building that would help preserve some of its exhibits and artifacts.

It would be a storage shed with a heated workshop.

Society President John Fraser says a lot of the museum’s old machinery is rusting away.

“Probably, when it was put there, it was probably in good working order. Now, it’s sat there for I don’t know how many years, I’ve only been involved for three years, and I just see it deteriorating. We shouldn’t allow the history of that equipment to deteriorate in this area.”

He adds they have some a number of artifacts they want to preserve.

“Lots of things, beds. We have a little baby dress there, a little doll dress, that’s 200 years old. We’ve got it under glass, we’ve got it kept. We don’t know what to do with it, to clean it.”

Fraser says it will take a “big effort” to raise the $300,000 needed to put up the building. There is no set time for when the society wants it built.
