RCMP connecting kids with technology and information
Grande Prairie RCMP will be helping children at a local school connect with information and technology.
The local detachment along with the RCMP Foundation will be launching the TechConnect program at Alexander Forbes School. Selected grade seven to eight students will get a chance to learn about safety on the internet, cyber-bullying, and practice online etiquette, according to a media release from RCMP.
“It is a good opportunity for Grande Prairie because we have so many schools. I do think we have a lot of students that maybe don’t have access to technology at home. This gives them the opportunity to have that technology to do assignments needed or research. It gives everyone an equal opportunity,” said Cpl. Shawn Graham.
If the children finish their assignments and complete the program, they get to keep the laptop that is provided to use during the lessons.
