Multi-million dollar facility opens in the county

Sep 6, 2018 | 7:20 AM

A $20 million investment that began construction in 2016 just outside of Wembley is officially open.

Tenaris produces steel pipes and Canadian President Guillermo (Willy) Moreno says the company set up here for a specific reason.

“Because this is the core of the development of the Montney and Duvernay formations.”

Adding “the level of activity now is a healthy level. It is not as good as it used to be before the crisis, but it is much better then what we saw in 2015 and 2016 and we expect it to improve a lot in the short term.”

He says it feels like investor confidence is coming back but getting pipelines approved will boost additional investment.

The energy minister was on hand for the event and said the opening of the service centre shows what a driving force this region is.
